I’m Councillor Phil O’Donnell, and I’m running for re-election with a focus on respecting your tax dollars and making decisions that make sense today while planning responsibly for tomorrow.
Tax dollars should be treated with respect. That means balancing today’s needs with the needs we know are coming, making smart investments, and addressing problems before they become more expensive ones.
My priorities are straightforward: responsible municipal spending, sensible community growth, strong local services, and continued community involvement.
Growth matters, but it has to be managed properly. As West Perth grows, housing and services need to develop alongside the roads, water, wastewater, recreation and other infrastructure required to support them. Growth should strengthen our community without losing the small-town character that makes West Perth a place people want to call home.
Every council makes decisions based on the information available at the time, and some decisions have financial impacts that carry forward. My focus is careful planning, greater discipline, and making sure the decisions we make today don’t unnecessarily become tomorrow’s burden.
I believe municipal government works best when decisions are practical, spending is responsible, residents are heard, and council stays focused on what matters to the community.
Respect tax dollars, control costs, and focus spending on services and infrastructure that deliver real value
Support housing and development that fits West Perth’s infrastructure while protecting the small-town character residents value.
Maintain the roads, recreation, municipal services and infrastructure people rely on every day.
Make practical decisions today so future councils and taxpayers aren’t left with avoidable problems or costs.
Your full property tax bill isn’t controlled by West Perth Council alone. Portions also go to Perth County and local school boards. Phil’s focus is making sure the municipal portion is spent responsibly and delivers value.
Phil believes being part of the community means more than just sitting around the council table. Over the years, he has stayed involved with local organizations, committees and events that help make West Perth a great place to call home.
His involvement includes:
Whether it’s municipal committees, local organizations or volunteering behind the scenes, Phil has always believed in showing up, getting involved and doing his part.
